Revelation E15 “Did Somebody Blink?” 5:1-6

5 Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth (Revelation 5:1-6).

The artistry is brilliant as the speaker hits what is possibly the most important part of the message to us. With all of the eyes looking everywhere and the elders and the angels present, still no one is worthy to open the scroll. No one is strong enough. There is a scroll that is in need of us opening. We have no chance, no grace and no peace without someone’s help. A search is thorough, yet quick. It seems hopeless. We seem helpless. Someone must be mighty enough to open it. We are at war! God didn’t hang us out to dry did He? He didn’t forget about us, did He? We need a giant. We need a champion who can open the scroll. The search extended beyond the present, into both the past and the future, and still there was no one. There must be someone who is mighty. He will lead us to protect ourselves from Rome. We know that the battle really isn’t with flesh and blood as Paul has shared with us personally in a letter, but it is with a hierarchy of demons all battling to suppress our message and kill us off, but humans redeemed someone how look like the righteousness of God and the devil hates that.

So, the Lion of Judah has been sought out. It seems that Jesus who is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, will make it all better. He will make it all right. He will do it, because He is the Christ. But, John must have blinked, or I blinked. It seems that we were talking about a Lion, the King of the Jungle, a warrior. But when someone blinked, He became a lamb! The Lamb of God who took away sin.

When you really think about it, that is might. That is power! Someone needed to live a perfect life, die a perfect death and be raised to walk in newness of life. That is our conquering King. But, we are not talking about a King who conquers through force. We are talking about a King who actually conquered and is conquering through a once and for all sacrifice. This is a true hero. He will be struck down, but in doing so He will become more powerful than anyone can imagine.

It is like the candle is now on in the minds of my brothers and sisters around the room. Something is beginning to make sense with the Lion and the Lamb. The Lamb will conquer, He has conquered and He did it through sacrifice. A caution to anyone who dares to read this letter known as Revelation. If you don’t understand about the Lamb who conquered through sacrifice you can’t understand the rest of the message. In a way it is the entire message for us and our example in how to move this vital mission ahead.

      1. She is doing great, praise God! She is completely healed and is not having those troubles anymore! We had a very rough winter. It was one of the worst seasons of illness we have ever had. God brought us through it though just like He always does. We are all healthy and strong now. Looking forward to reading more of your writing brother! God bless you and the fam!
