Jesus is the Answer
By Aaron Mitchell
I recently heard longtime pastor of a Dallas church Ken Merrifield tell a story about a children’s Sunday school teacher. The teacher was asking questions and engaging the class. At one point the teacher held up a picture of a squirrel. The teacher asked, “What is this?” The interaction in the class stopped. The children were frozen and looked stumped by what the teacher thought was an obvious question.
After a little prying the teacher finally got little Johnny to answer the question. “Well, it looks like a squirrel, but I am going to go with Jesus because the answer is always Jesus.”
My heart’s desire is helping people to become better disciples of God’s Word. Whether you are reading in the Old Testament or the New Testament, it is important to remember the answer is always Jesus.
When we or someone else has a problem, one way or the other, Jesus is always the solution. In Acts 3, Peter and John are going to the temple to pray. They encounter a man who is asking them for money. The Apostles plainly tell him they have no money, but they have the solution. ‘And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise and walk (Acts 3:5-6)!”’
Jesus may or may not heal a person’s disease. He may help them in another way. Whatever the problem, Jesus is always answer.
